INTEGRATED COMMUNITY FACILITY - LIBRARY UPGRADE
To extend the library’s function and secure its future, an integrated approach has been adopted and consists of a regional digital hub which fulfils the community’s need for digital connectivity, small business use and innovation.
Further plans to renovate and increase the usage through the most recent Library review process and an expansion plan from 2016 will be actioned alongside the regional digital hub.
The Wairoa Regional Digital Hub is one of Central Government's initiatives to enhance digital connectivity in the provinces (PGF Digital Enablement Initiative).

WAIROA RIVER REGIONAL PARK
Wairoa’s first Regional Park will be developed as part of a comprehensive restoration environment plan based primarily on the ‘Wairoa Waterfront Enhancement’ written by Boffir Miskell in 2014 and community and iwi consultation. The formation of this Regional Park will stretch from the Wairoa Water Ski Club to the river mouth at Whakamahia. The development of the park will enhance our river town’s natural beauty as well as complementing the regeneration of the Marine Parade. The Te Wairoa E Whanake component will focus primarily on the Marine Parade section.
TRADES TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT PATHWAYS
Te Wairoa E Whanake will provide training and employment pathways throughout stage one and two working in partnership with local education providers. As many aspects of the projects as possible will have training or employment elements to ensure social inclusion and upskilling Wairoa’s youth.
